Nurse Midwife Fellow

I am absolutely elated to be joining the gifted, nurturing, and empowering team at Healing Passages Birth & Wellness Center for a Midwifery Fellowship. I am purely a vessel of gratitude in this moment, ready to soak up as much knowledge and experience as possible, and to share the best version of myself with this beautiful community. I have been walking along this path for many years, and I am now, finally ready to begin serving women and families as a midwife. I’m thrilled and blessed to begin here, with all of you.

I first discovered Cosette and Willowsong Midwifery Care as a newly graduated nurse at the Family Birthing Center in Broadlawns Medical Center. At the time, Willowsong clients in need of in-patient care frequently spent time with us. I asked Cosette what were probably endless questions, eagerly learning what I could from her in our brief moments together. I sought out Willowsong’s clients as often as I could, and I gained wonderful memories I will cherish always. I saw how special the relationships were among the women of Willowsong, and I witnessed a wonderful, loving, and holistic example of how to support, educate, and empower women and families. I have continued to follow and observe Willowsong and Healing Passages Birth & Wellness Center over the past ten years, and immediately sought them out when I completed my midwifery program.

I attended nursing school at Mercy College of Health Sciences secure in the knowledge I would eventually become a Certified Nurse-Midwife. I didn’t know at the time just how many bends in the road there would be, but ultimately I believe now is the perfect time, and today is the perfect day for the next step in my journey. I have been a registered nurse for over ten years, and have varied experiences; my focus has always been on women and children. I began the Certified Nurse-Midwifery program at Frontier Nursing University in the spring of 2015, and graduated in February of 2018. I attended school full time, in order to focus fully on my education, while also finding balance with my family. I recently began the Doctor of Nursing Practice program with Frontier, because my other great passion is teaching. I will eventually strive to make more midwives!

My husband, Chris is my greatest champion, and a steady and true companion. He also makes me laugh…hard. Our three children fill our lives with joy (and let’s be real; keep us on our toes); our son Avery is about to begin his senior year in high school, our daughter Regan will be a freshman this fall, and our little Luca turned two this spring. We also have two rescue dogs, Piper and Sophie, who keep life interesting with their shenanigans. I love to read, walk, ride my bike, and hang out with my super cool family.

My central theme in this life of service is creating true connections. I yearn to develop deep and meaningful relationships with those I serve. I believe strongly, in my core, that in connecting deeply I have the opportunity to really understand how to best care for each unique being I encounter. I believe in empowering women to find their own right birth. My primary goal is not to inflict my opinions or beliefs on others, but rather to educate clients on how to educate themselves. I follow the practice of shared decision making. Most importantly, I believe in physiological birth. I simply cannot understand why in our country, women are too often stripped of their own power, and I will spend my career working to change that.

I am incredibly honored to begin this phase of my career, becoming a Willowsong Midwife, here in Healing Passages Birth & Wellness Center.
