When we become a new mom our focus is on taking care of and tending to our little one. Not only are we supporting them emotionally but also physically through breastfeeding. Amazingly, we need more calories to breastfeed than we did to grow baby in our womb.
Getting in those additional calories can be very challenging to get in healthy foods as a new mom. There is limited time available to prepare or even get to the kitchen as we are continuously meeting our newborn’s needs. As challenging as it may be, we still need to consume healthy foods to nourish and take care of ourselves, so we are able to care for our family and not become physically or emotionally depleted.
